Walking On The Moon...

Elder Roberts (front, left) and Elder Hale (front, right) on P-Day!

Dear Family,

Sorry.  You are gonna have to go find the photos from Elder Roberts because the computer I'm using right now definitely has a virus.

We baptized Eugenia and Claudio!

Interesting fact: Claudio's middle name is "Sting." Yes, like the singer for The Police.

It was a great experience. Eugenia told us that we have changed her life.

We found a family of Ecuadorians.  The dad is so cool.  His name is Tito. Unfortunately, like all immigrants, they work a lot and it's difficult to catch them together in the house at the same time. They are a family of six!

Lots of miracles this week.

Love you lots!

News Flash! Elder Hale Bakes Cookies!!

Another week with no photos from Elder Hale.   Kyra went to the San Diego Zoo on Saturday and her friend, Sophie, took this awesome picture!

Dear Family,

¡Eugenia y Claudio se van a bautizar!

Were really excited!  Teaching Eugenia has been amazing. She has so much faith, it's crazy.

Really interesting story:
When we taught Eugenia about keeping the sabbath day holy she was in the process of looking for a job, and she HORRIBLY poor. She found one, and when they told her she would need to work Sundays, she turned it down. We didn't even know until a few days ago.

When we taught her the law of tithing she didn't doubt for a second that paying her tithing would bless the lives of her and her son.  She told us she would do it as soon as she gets her first paycheck (she starts working today).  The following day she shared with us that she had been fasting for 24-hours. We thought maybe it was because we had taught the law of the fast, but then she told us it was because there wasn't any food in the house.

We called the Vidal Family to ask for some help. They are wonderful. They brought about four days worth of food to her and her son the next day.

I made them some chocolate chip cookies, too  :)   - and I didn't even burn them.

We had their baptism interview yesterday because Eugenia wasn't really sure about her work schedule for the week, so they are ready to go.

I feel very blessed to have known Eugenia and Claudio.

Thank you for your prayers,
Elder Hale

PS -  Please continue to pray, specifically for Claudio. His older brothers live close and influence him a lot. We are praying and fasting that Claudio is well received into the Young Men.

PSS - No photos, sorry. I had to wipe my photos in my SD card because the computer from last week did something weird.

PSSS - I make cookies for the retention and for members that help us all the time.
Not sure if that's manipulation or not, but I don't really care anyway. Haha!

A New Companion, A Fire, and The Simpsons

The computer had issues today, so we didn't get any photos from Elder Hale.
Instead you get Maisy on the beach in Laguna!

Dear Family,

Elder Hale receiving Elder Roberts.  He seems like a good guy - obedient, too.  Chao, Elder Lastra.

It's been really hot. It got up to 37°C  (98°F) this week.  A hill caught on fire in PeƱaflor.  The smoke was terrible, but there is a huge river between us and the hill, so it was all good.

Eugenia and her son Claudio are getting baptized on the 26th! We are super excited. They love church and it seems like Eugenia just gets more and more excited every day. Claudio is a little more quiet, but we are working with the young men to get him coming to activities.

I am excited for this change. It is already looking really good.

Wishing everyone good luck with our new, beloved, President Trump.
Keep watching the Simpsons to find out what happens next.

Love you all!
Elder Hale

And you get Kelly's picture of the Supermoon!

Prayer Request

We hiked to the top of a thing

This week had some ups and downs. The part member family I wrote about last week is awesome. Angelica, the less-active mom, is super cool,  is excited to reactivate, and all the daughters accepted an invitation to be baptized with a date.

And then they moved.

The husband is abusive and Angelica finally left with the daughters. They will probably rent in another sector but they are not sure yet.  Soliciting prayers for the family.

Salvador is my homie
We found a lady named Eugenia. She has a baptismal date for the 19th, but we are going to change it because now her son wants to be baptized, too. He didn't make it to church on Sunday, and our mission requires investigators to come to church at least two times before they can get baptized.

Eugenia is sick (as in "awesome" or "cool").  She heard missionaries once at a friends house when they were teaching the Word of Wisdom to her friend. She quit smoking and drinking just the same day.  Wow.

Thats all folks!

This is why you shouldn't drink
