Great miracles this week!

Little Miss "Elder Hale" - Haha!
Dear Family,

¡Gran milagros esta semana!

Bad news first though - The Dickenson Family did not come to church! I'm pulling my hair out every week.

We taught them The Family: A Proclamation for the World and a miracle happened. Claudia (the mom) has been pretty tough to crack, but she listened a bit and is excited for us to show them how to do family home evening today.  She listened to her son Alejandro give the closing prayer and she got super proud and excited about the gospel. What a miracle!  If only we could tie down Satan on Saturday night so they would come to church on Sunday.

FYI, I can teach all the lessons in Creole - no problem, and pray in Creole, too, so that's pretty awesome.  Now onto Portuguese.    :)

We have an investigator whose wife is Mormon. They have a cute little daughter, but he is what we call here "flaite" or "choro."

In Chile, the flaite people constantly use phrases with double meanings, and I have a TOUGH time understanding this guy. Plus he swears an average of 1,000,000 times per lesson.  His wife buries her head in her hands during the lessons - haha!

PAPA NOU KI NAN SYEL LA RENMEN NOU!!!!!  (Your Father in Heaven loves you!)

Love,
Elder Hale

PS- I heard a quote that if a missionary doesn't learn charity during his mission, he has wasted two years of his life.

No Change This Change

Elder Hale with his district homies
 Dear Familia Y Amigos,

We are still here.

Elder Yriarte and I get to kick it one more change here in Amengual!
Day of community service

This week was interesting. We had three investigators come to church that we didn't even invite.

The first was this old guy named Carlos. We passed by his house later but he is a die-hard Catholic. He sure likes the Mormon church, though.

The second was the nephew of a reactivating less-active. She lives with her sister who isn't a member and we are going to pass by this week.

The third investigator was Alejandro's son, Alejandro. Crazy story.

So Alejandro (father) has a big problem with alcohol and he went crazy.  Nobody knows where he is right now. Alejandro, his 11-year old son, is awesome. He had been reminding the family to pray together, he reads in the Book of Mormon, and he reminds his dad to read, too. Alejandro, the younger, came to church by himself. We weren't even thinking of their family because his mom doesn't really pay any attention to us. Praying that this awesome little beast can save his family.

Thats all.

Love,
Elder Hale
All those home-improvement skills Elder Hale learned from his DIY parents are coming in handy!

Yes.  He really sent this picture.

Changes Are Coming...

Familia Villavicencio

Dear Familia,

So this week we had great lessons with some of our investigators.

We taught Alejandro and he felt the spirit when we taught the Restoration to him. Unfortunately, his wife, Claudia, is a little bit less receptive- she doesn't really participate, but she really likes when we stop by because it helps Alejandro. He has been reading in the Book of Mormon and has a date for baptism. We aren't sure how everything will turn out because we have plans to include Claudia more in the teaching. We are going to do a family home evening with a family that lives close. I'm excited to see if we can get Alejandro into family history work because I want to know where the name Dickenson comes from.

Not really sure where I'll be next change, but it's likely that Elder Yriarte or I will have changes.

Love you guys lots!
Elder Hale

A Cat Named Kyra

Dear Family,

So this week was crazy. We visited lots of members and received twelve references.

A room with a view
The truth is that our sector hasn't really been seeing too many miracles of late, but we are working hard to make it happen. FAITH!

Not sure what this picture is all about.

Jonathan came to church yesterday again. He sings louder than everyone in the congregation even though he doesn't speak Spanish!

I guess if your glow-in-the-dark Madonna statue is watching over you as you smoke,
the harmful effects are minimized?

Also, the lady that directs the music forgot what verse we were on twice and we sung the same verse three times.

We taught this lady with a cat named KYRA!  Kyra with a Y ! Picture included.

A cat named Kyra! And spelled like our Kyra!

Love you!
Elder Hale
